Before making a decision, consider consulting with your family members or even with associates for their opinion. What utilities or amenities you need / can afford? Remember, the selection you will make will accompany you through some time and the choices you’ll carry out will make the difference between a Manhattan luxury loft rent and a rental you can be unhappy with.

3.     Require repairs – you have the rights to live in a livable New York City apartment. Landlords are required to offer their tenants a habitable apartment: electricity, water, clean sanitary, heat, and safe structurally of the apartment. 6.     Check the apartment for damages – before signing the contract for your NYC rental, walk throughout the apartment building and take a thorough look. Do you see any damages? Mark it down! Does one or more of the equipment in the New York City furnished apartment you are visiting is not in good condition? Mark it down! When you’ll sign the contract it is most likely that you’ll have to put down a security deposit. You don’t want the landlord cutting of your security deposit for damage left by the previous occupants.
